It’s not a good idea to be leading your den or pack on a hike and get lost. Or come upon a hazard or barrier which you were not aware of.
The best way to prevent this is not to take your Cub Scouts on a trail that you have not already hiked yourself. It is a good idea to already be familiar with the trail so that you won’t get lost, you can assure the families who are with you that you know where you are going, and you can avoid or minimize the danger associated with any hazards.
