Every Cub Scout leader should be trained. It is hard to put on an effective Cub Scout program without trained leaders.
As soon as a new Cub Scout leader is registered, he or she should take online Fast Start Training. Link
He or she should also go ahead and take online Youth Protection Training. Link
The required training for new Cub Scout leaders is Youth Protection Training and the two components of Basic Leader Training: New Leader Essentials (an overview of the scouting program for all new Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturer leaders) and Cub Scout Leader Specific Training.
And leaders who have completed Youth Protection training and Basic Leader Training are permitted to wear the cool “Trained” patch.
