I have heard from several sources that Fast Tracks is being adopted as part of the official BSA Cub Scout program beginning with the 2010-2011 school year.
My guess is there will be a public announcement in the not-too-distant future.

I’m starting to get the feeling that they are going to fast tracks as a replacement for the monthly themes/program helps, rather than as an addition to it. This strikes me as a major mistake.
My understanding is that this is essentially correct–i.e., that the monthly themes are being dropped because of Fast Tracks (under whatever name it will have) becoming part of the official BSA Cub Scout program.
Of course, I don’t have any first-hand information on this so keep that in mind.
