Simon Kenton Council’s Buckeye District roundtable packet for December 2008 (Holiday Lights) is now on the SKC website.
Buckeye District makes a great roundtable packet which is posted monthly on their website. It has games, cooking ideas, crafts, songs, skits, ceremonies, and more. It is very nice of them to post it to their website each month.

The December 2008 (Holiday Lights) Program Helps pages from BSA National are now available (free) for download.
Program Helps is a great resource for crafts, games, activities and more for pack meetings and activities and Tiger, Wolf, and Bear den meetings.
This one also has ideas for outdoor winter activities and information about pack leaders’ planning meetings.

The November 2008 Baloo’s Bugle (by Commissioner Dave) is now available for free download. It has games, activities, ceremonies, puzzles, crafts, and other ideas for den and pack meetings for the December 2008 monthly theme (Holiday Lights).
For Webelos Scout den meetings, it also has activities for the Craftsman and Scientist Webelos activity badges.
And it also has information about Wood Badge training, internet rechartering, and service stars.

The December 2008 (Holiday Lights) Den Meeting in a Box is now available from BSA Supply Group for Tiger, Wolf, or Bear den meetings.
It is $37.49 and includes ten “Let There Be Light!” booklets, a kit that makes ten stick star ornaments, ten monthly theme patches, and more.

The November 2008 Cubcast from BSA National is available (free). It has ideas for den meetings and more utilizing the December “Holiday Lights” theme.
The program also has a lot of information about the Cub Scouting courses available at Philmont Training Center.

At thebestkidsbooksite.com, they have instructions on how to make this Hanukkah menorah construction paper craft. The instructions include a cut-out template.
This would probably be a fun December project for your Tigers or Wolfs.

The December 2008 Cub Scout Monthly Theme is “Holiday Lights.”
Here is the official BSA theme description:
“The Star of Bethlehem, the Miracle of the Lamp, the Morning Star that enlightened Buddha, the bonfires of Yule: many of our holiday traditions this month involve lights. Share your holiday traditions with your pack and den: lights on a Christmas tree, candles on a Menorah for Chanukah, or on a Kinara for Kwanzaa.
Boys can be stars this month by brightening someone’s holiday season with a gift of compassion. As a pack or den, visit a nursing home, preschool, or children’s ward and sing holiday favorites. End your outing by sharing cookies that the boys decorated. Help those less fortunate with a service project or toy drive.
How about a holiday campfire at your pack meeting? This is great month to work on the Language and Culture belt loop and pin or the Heritages belt loop and pin.” [bold added]
