Buckeye January 2010 Packet (Power Up!)

The Simon Kenton Council Buckeye District roundtable packet for January 2010 is now available.

The nice people of the Buckeye District put together a great roundtable packet each month. This one has games, cooking ideas, crafts, songs, skits, ceremonies, and more for the January “Power Up!” theme.

Baloo’s Bugle – January 2010 (Power Up!) Theme

The new Baloo’s Bugle is out. Baloo’s Bugle is a great monthly unofficial publication with games, activities, ceremonies, puzzles, crafts, and other ideas for den and pack meetings. This one covers the January “Power Up!” theme.

For Webelos Scout den meetings, this Bugle also has activities for the Fitness and Scientist Webelos activity badges.

Also inside is a fun article on many ways to recognize Cub Scout leaders.

And Bill Smith, Roundtable Guy, returns with an essay on what Cub Scouting is all about.

Cub Scout Program Helps is a great resource for crafts, games, activities, and more for pack meetings and activities and Tiger, Wolf, and Bear den meetings.

This one also suggests why you may want to present parent pins with Cub Scout rank badges.

Power Up! – Official Theme Description

The January 2010 Cub Scout Monthly Theme is “Power Up!”

Here is the official BSA theme description:

“Boys explore the science of energy through solar, electrical, and wind power and how this energy is used in their everyday lives. They can explore different ways to conserve energy and protect the world we live in. Work on the Science or Weather belt loop and pin.

Boys can invite friends to join in the pinewood derby and discover the power behind those little cars.

What types of things are powered up by the flip of a switch? A field trip to the local water works or power plant might be part of the den’s monthly plan.

Finish up the month with a real power-packed pack meeting. The boys can power up by being physically fit and working on the Physical Fitness belt loop and pin.” [Bold added]
